Meet Your Tutor

Alison is from the Chicago area, but is currently living in Argentina. She holds an M.A. in Bilingual and Multicultural Education from the University of Alcalá, an M.A. in Spanish from Middlebury College, and two degrees from Eastern Illinois University: a B.A. in Spanish, French Minor and a B.A. in Music, Flute Concentration, and Jazz Studies Minor.

 

In 2018, Alison lived in Argentina as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant, where she taught English at a teacher training college. In 2019, she substituted at the high school level and then moved to Madrid to begin her first Master. In 2020, she launched Language Tutoring with Alison, then later began her second Master while simultaneously teaching 1st-6th graders as an English assistant at a bilingual school. Now in 2021, she has experience teaching in a variety of contexts, including both in person and online, children, teenagers, and adults, one-on-one or in groups, exam prep and casual conversation, and from beginner through advanced levels. Above all, she believes that the best way she can support her students is by helping them build confidence in their language abilities.

Alison is a very patient, flexible, and knowledgeable instructor who takes time to know the student as a person. She creates instructional content and learning goals that center around the student's self-identified purposes, and makes learning the language enjoyable, intriguing, and exciting!
